Nursery on a Budget
Setting up a nursery can be expensive. However, this doesn’t mean that it needs to be. There are many ways to decorate a nursery while on a budget. Here are a few tips to get you started!
-
Convertible crib
While a convertible crib may have a higher initial cost, they are worth it in the long run. A convertible crib can easily become a toddler-friendly bed with just a few adjustments. Additionally, with a few spare parts, the bed can become a full-size adult bed! While some manufacturers will include all these parts when you purchase the crib, some might require you to buy additional pieces. If this is the case, be sure to purchase these parts as soon as possible. While you may want to save your money until it’s time to convert the bed, the parts may not be available then.

Be resourceful
Consider what you already have before purchasing new items. A new coat of paint and new hardware can transform an old dresser and make it look as good as new. You can also add a padded changing mat to the top of the dresser to create a temporary changing station! If you don’t have spare furniture, check out your local secondhand shop!
-
Skip the changing table
A place to change the baby is essential. However, a changing table isn’t! A changing table is quickly outgrown. Once a baby can roll over, parents typically feel more comfortable doing a diaper change on the floor.
-
Paint
Get creative with paint instead of shelling out money for costly wall treatments. Consider painting a cute design on the walls, painting the inside of a bookshelf or other shelves in the room, or the ceiling to quickly update the room.
-
Get personal
Instead of paying for new artwork, consider framing family photos and hanging them on the wall. You can also DIY some great pieces of art! Just get a canvas from your local craft store and use any of your leftover paint.
