Homeless Care Package
Throughout the year, and especially during the holiday season, many families gather together a care kit for the homeless people in their area. If you are thinking about making kits, consider adding these items. A typical care kit consists of a watertight gallon-size zipper-lock plastic bag.
Food
- Water bottle
- Granola bar or cereal bar
- Fruit snacks
- Applesauce
- Crackers with peanut butter or cheese
- Beef jerky
- Mints, cough drops, or gum
- Gift certificate to a nearby fast food restaurant
Toiletries
- Hand wipes or baby wipes
- Pack of tissues
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Maxi pads
- Comb or small brush
- Nail clippers
- Lip balm
- Lotion
Misc.
- Socks
- Band-aids
This is by no means an exhaustive list. There are many things that you can include in a care package. If you do not want to make individual packages, you can always contact your local homeless shelter. They can tell you what items they need and you can donate those items directly to the shelter.
