What started as a campaign by American Express became a national holiday when the United States Senate began recognizing the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday in 2011. Within the midst of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Small Business Saturday aims to support local American businesses during the holiday season. This year, Small Business Saturday falls on November 28, 2020.
While Small Business Saturday is highly anticipated for many, this year holds even more importance. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating to countless small businesses across the country. At Garden State Home Loans, we have a strong belief in the American Dream, and small businesses are the American Dream personified. If you’re planning on getting some holiday shopping done around Thanksgiving, consider shopping local and supporting Small Business Saturday!
If shopping isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of other ways to show some small business love! Here’s just a few examples:
- Spread the word on social media about your favorite small businesses. Word of mouth goes a long way!
- Write a 5-star review for small businesses you love.
- Get the word out about Small Business Saturday to your friends and family!
