1. Tone on tone

Tone on tone is when the trim work and the walls are the same color. If you want to take this trend even further, incorporate the color into other elements in your room, such as a dresser, sofa, or end table.

2. Rich colors

2018 is going to see richer color palettes in the home, such as deep gem-colored tones, different color metals, velvet upholstery, and black marbles.

3. Geometric art

Hard geometric patterns are predicted to be a big design element in homes throughout 2018. Abstract works made with bright colors are going to be the go-to artwork to hang in your home. Additionally, other geometric elements are expected to pop up throughout the new year, especially in the form of circle patterns.

4. Natural elements

Choosing to use natural elements in your home in 2018 is a great way to ensure the longevity of the new year’s trends. Try to incorporate natural limestone or woods to take full advantage of this trend.

5. Curved sofas

An alternative to the ever-present L-shaped sectional, curved sofas provides nice visual appeal to a room. They also work well to divide a room, especially in rectangular rooms. Have a fireplace? Curved sofas are the perfect piece of furniture to snuggle up in front of the fire!

6. Standout lampshades

Lampshades are a fantastic way to take older pieces and give them new life. This upcoming year, be on the lookout for pleated, patterned, and wicker lampshades. Lampshades are a great way to play around with color, texture, and design without having to empty out the contents of your whole wallet.

7. Monochromatic spaces

Monochromatic spaces are perfect for people who want simplicity in their homes. Tone on tone is a great way to achieve a monochromatic space.  Most often, monochromatic tones are associated with black and white. However, you don’t need to stick to just them! Monochromatic colors are just all colors of one hue, so you can pick whichever color you’d like.

8. Tiles

More simplistic tile styles have been becoming more popular and are expected to surge in 2018. Subway tiles have become a frequently used material in both new constructions and renovations. Larger format tiles or slab sized sheets are a new trend for 2018. Larger tiles need less grout and are easy to install and maintain.
